The decision to host DeepSeek in India is contingent on the platform storing and processing all Indian users’ data domestically, aligning with India’s strict data localization requirements. This move aims to address privacy concerns related to cross-border data transfer and ensure that Indian users’ data remains secure.

India’s new AI Compute Facility, equipped with 18,693 graphics processing units (GPUs), will host DeepSeek’s models. The facility offers computing services at significant discounts, making it an attractive option for firms in India. The minister also revealed plans to establish an AI safety institution and develop indigenous AI models, further advancing India’s AI ambitions.

This development comes at a time when DeepSeek’s R1 “reasoning” model has sparked intense debates around copyright issues and U.S. export controls. Despite the controversies, the model’s success has prompted a global reconsideration of AI investment strategies.

Google Tests New GBoard Feature to Restore Deleted Text

The option to restore deleted text will make it easier for users to type, and Google is aiming to add a new “Undo” button to its Android keyboard, GBoard. An ‘Undo’ button that functions like desktop operating systems will reportedly be added to GBoard. It is yet unknown when the function will be made available to the general public, despite the fact that it is currently being tested and included in the most recent GBoard beta version.

9to5 first broke the story.Google, the function is active in the most recent GBoard beta, but it is marked as disabled, according to developer rkbdi (provided by Akos Paha). According to reports, the option may be found under the Settings > GBoard > Overflow buttons. But now that Google has made it possible for users to tailor what they see in this overflow menu, it may be moved up a level and made a little bit simpler to access. It’s possible that the final version will look very different and be more approachable and user-friendly.

According to reports, users will be able to perform a “Control+Z” or “Command+Z” operation on the virtual keyboard, similar to those seen on other desktop operating systems. This function essentially undoes actions and can restore previously entered text that was accidentally deleted. The same was demonstrated in the video demo, where the user simply selected the “Undo” option from the overflow menu to retrieve recently entered but deleted text.

The search engine giant is purportedly extending this feature systemwide, so it will essentially function pretty much anyplace you can text using GBoard, according to 9to5Google. As long as one is using the GBoard app as their preferred keyboard, this may come from a text field in the search bar or in a third-party programme as well.

The ‘Undo’ button on GBoard is brand-new, but the undo functionality is not. Most of Google’s Workspace apps, including the note-taking software Keep, have undo and redo buttons.

Key Features

ApneBoot is a wearable gadget created by BEMPU Health to alert for bradycardia and hypoxia, two important signs of infant apnea. Additionally, ApneBoot treats protracted hypoxia events and apnea episodes in premature neonates by providing immediate tactile stimulation to the foot sole. The device fits on the infant foot in the practical shape of a baby boot and contains an integrated pulse oximeter with an alarm and auto-stimulation mechanism. The item is made to accommodate very little babies and can be worn right away after birth.

An algorithm that is already included in ApneBoot keeps track of changes in heart rate and/or oxygen saturation. If an episode occurs, ApneBoot:

● The newborn’s foot sole, which has a lot of nerve endings, vibrates. The respiration is restarted and the neurological system is stimulated.

Social Impact

A major risk factor for premature infants is Apnea of prematurity (AOP), which is a cessation of breathing. AOP can result in severe injury and death if not treated right away. Every year, apneas pose a risk to 15 million premature newborns worldwide and 3.3 million preterm infants in India.

Since low-resource settings lack vital sign monitoring and trained workers to respond to apneas (only 55% of Indian SNCUs have appropriate nursing staff), apneas necessitate quick action, which is impaired in these environments. Due to apnea and related hypoxia, babies in these facilities often sustain injuries or pass away.

To address this gap, we developed ApneBoot, a device to not only detect but also provide intervention to resolve AOP.

According to our theory of change, ApneBoot will prevent prolonged hypoxia and apnea in preterm babies, protecting them from harm and mortality caused by these conditions, leading to better neurodevelopmental outcomes. The device uses a high accuracy FDA, CE approved built-in pulse oximeter, has two journal articles, and has assisted more than 120 neonates by offering seamless apnea monitoring.

Future Plans

We want to improve the neonatal standard of care in NICUs by implementing ApneBoot in all low- and middle-income nations. A total of 67,600 preterm neonates will be impacted over the course of the next five years thanks to the deployment of about 5,200 devices in India and LMICs’ public and private health settings.

In response to user input, we are also creating new device versions with additional functionality.
